Polifemo is a poetic object remembering times gone by, when we read by candlelight, times when we fell asleep dreaming of epic heroes or at least still dreaming. Polifemo is stylized shape is based on the aspect of the mytological giant cyclop encountered by Ulysses in the Odyssey and an homage to Homer one of the fathers of western culture. Polifemo is sanded, painted and packaged by Cooperativa PeterPan based in the city of Vercelli (Italy). Peter Pan is a charity cooperative where skilled craftworkers (wood,ceramic,glass...) guide and monitor disabled and disadvantaged young people, engaging them in simple activities which contribute to produce a finished art/design product. Every task, simple to complex, is addressed to the person with the adequate skill level, helping to gain work satisfaction and personal happiness always ensuring a high quality of the finished piece.
